Statistics show Tongchuan residents happy with life

Recent statistics released by the Shaanxi provincial information center show that people in Tongchuan, a city in Shaanxi province, are happy with their quality of life, China Daily learned on Monday.

The statistics show that the happiness index of people in Tongchuan reached 73.45 percent.

A resident, surnamed Li, who was born and raised in Tongchuan, said that she felt the city was continuously improving in regards to environment, safety and living conditions.

Another resident, surnamed Zhang, who came to the city from Henan province in 1986, said that he witnessed great improvements in the city’s environment. Zhang noted that air pollution was serious in the city roughly 10 years ago, but now there are more than 300 days of good weather a year according to various indices. The improvement represents the city’s effective control of air pollution.
