The Ninth Qingdao International Beer Festival, with a rabbit called Beng Beng as its mascot, took place in the International Beer City from Aug 28 to Sept 19, 1999. People’s Daily was one of its hosts. With 1.69 million participants and numerous exhibitions and expos, the festival played a vital role in promoting regional and international exchange in trade, technology, tourism and culture.
