2010 is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese lunar calendar. The mascot design is inspired by the zodiac animal of the tiger. The tiger represents braveness and bustling activity.

The mascot features bright colors and appears open, warm and friendly.

It is named “Huhu” and represents the vigor and vitality of the Qingdao people. Huhu’s red nose symbolizes the happiness of the festival. Holding beer, it represents the friendly and hospitable environment in Qingdao, the city of sailing boats.
