'Intelligent' beer gala to begin in Qingdao

The 23rd Qingdao International Beer Festival will put into use an intelligent service system, the first ever among all festivals and celebrations in China.

Wi-Fi signals will cover the whole Beer Town at Century Square in Qingdao's Laoshan district, where the beer gala will be hosted. Tourists in the Beer Town will be able to enjoy free Internet access with a CMCC account.

In addition, each beer tent at the event will also be providing free Wi-Fi for beer fans.

This year's event also opened an official WeChat public account – hahabeer – to allow followers to obtain more information about the event simply by texting "mascot", "weather", or "date" among other options.

The event this year co-launched a ticket booking online platform with Baidu Group – http://tuan.baidu.com/event/2013qdbeer/ -- as its official online ticket booking channel. By logging in, tourists can buy tickets, beer-tasting coupons, discount coupons and many other products related to the festival. Tourists can buy these products with coupons at the festival's ticket center as soon as the event begins.

The ticket center is located across the street from Kylin Hotel, Shenzhen Road, Laoshan district, Qingdao, Shandong province.

Tourists with tickets bought on the Baidu Group purchase platform will be entitled to a 10-percent discount and will have chances to receive 5 or 20 yuan ($0.82 - $3.27) coupons. These tourists will also be able to take part in a lottery to win a two-person cruise trip to South Korea at a value of 16,000 yuan.
