Muhai Tang, widely respected as the pre-eminent Chinese conductor, came to international recognition when Herbert von Karajan invited him to conduct the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in its 1983 subscription series. This success led to repeat appearances with the Berlin Philharmonic and invitations from many of the world's leading orchestras such as the London Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Staatskapelle Dresden, Orchestre National de France, and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestras amongst many others. He has been working at the highest level for the past 30 years. Previously Chief Conductor of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic, Finnish National Opera, Zurich Chamber Orchestra and currently MD of the Belgrade Philharmonic, he received high acclaim recently for his work at the Zurich Opera House, where he conducted two Rossini operas featuring Cecilia Bartoli.

While maintaining a significant career in Europe, he has continued to spend much of his time in Shanghai as MD of the Shanghai Philharmonic and Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra and working throughout China, and he has also been a tireless champion for Chinese classical music throughout the world.

Violin / Feng Ning Violinist Ning Feng was born in Chengdu and received his training from at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music and London's Royal Academy of Music. Known for his expressive playing, Ning Feng rapidly gained recognition as an outstanding artist. A first-prize winner of the 2006 Paganini International Violin Competition and the 2005 Michael Hill International Competition in New Zealand, he was also a prizewinner at the Hannover International Violin Competition, Queen Elizabeth International Violin Competition and the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition. After conducting Ning with the Budapest Festival Orchestra at the 2010 Beijing Music Festival, Ivan Fischer said: "I believe Ning Feng is an outstanding artist with unusual talents. There is no doubt he represents the highest level of artistry. His performance comes from the heart and reverent of the music. I recommend him without any reservation."

The former of Tianjin Grand Opera Orchestra is Tianjin Symphony Orchestra which was established in 1985.

Tianjin Grand Opera Orchestra pays a great deal of attention to the improvement of artistic taste and skill of symphony in China. They has been performed thousands of symphonic works, chorus works , and ensemble works by famous musicians both from home and abroad. The musicians,such as Xiaogang Ye,Yuankai Bao, Jianping Tang, Shengchagn Yao, Tingyu Liu, made their debut on the music scene with Tianjin Grand Opera Orchestra.

Besides the symphony concerts, Tianjin Grand Opera Orchestra was frequently invited to perform at Korea, Germany, Russia, Holand, Singapore, Indonesia, Mongolia, Hongkong and Taiwan,etc. In 2003, TGOO was invited by Japanese Department of Culture to gave a successful concert on the second "Asia Symphony Festival". The orchestra has also cooperated with numerous the world's top conductors several times.

Meanwhile, Tianjin Grand Opera Orchestra has organized a variety of activities with primary school, high school, and college. A music popularization project named "Ten years, thousands concerts, million people" , performed by TGOO and organized by Tianjin Education Committee, had a deeply influence in the society.

Tianjin Grand Opera Orchestra was awarded as "National advanced cultural community" by Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China.
