The students greeted their guests with several entertaining stage performances, including singing and comedy sketches.
The Pudong New Area Special School was established nearly a decade ago to provide high-quality compulsory education to the hearing-impaired, mentally retarded, those with cerebral palsy and other students with disabilities. It has more than 325 students and 65 full-time teachers.
Over the past few years, the school has been recognized as both a local and national leader in special education.
Lianyang's foreign affairs service center, which was established last December, organized the Children's Day event as part of a broader effort to integrate its 5300 expatriate residents into the community.
