Officials visit home of 'courageous warrior'

To show concern for the family members of Ling Guoding who lost his life for saving a drowning old woman, Wang Ping,deputy chief of the Sichuan Provinicial Politics and Law Comnmittee, recently visited his home in the Wenjiang district of Chengdu in Sichuan and offered cash and gifts for the Spring Festival.

Wang told his family members that the government would never forget Ling's good deeds.

On June 29, 2006, Ling, 50 and handicapped, jumped into a river to save a drowing old woman but lost his own life.

Ling, who had managed to save five people during his lifetime, was conferred the title of "courageous warrior" by the Chengdu municipal government in 2007.

Tian Yong, Party chief of the Wenjiang district, also visited Ling's home together with Wang and sent his family members money for the festival on behalf of the district.
