Forbes to hold a fashion ceremony in Chengdu

Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Commerce told China Daily that the world famous finance media Forbes was going to held the 2011 Forbes • Yanlord Land Fashion Ceremony in Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan province.

Operators of famous fashion brands from home and abroad, experts and scholars from culture industry, fashionable Chinese from Forbes, and representatives of the local government will be invited to Chengdu, predicting the new trend of international fashion industry, discussing how China's fashion industry can make a breakthrough and have a significant development, and studying the combination of city construction and fashion industry.

At present, the sale of China's fashion commodities is growing at a speed of 15 to 20 percent annually, ranking first in the world. China is supposed to surpass the United States and become the second largest consumer of fashion commodities in 2015 with an annual sale of 11.5 billion dollars.

Apart from the fist-tier cities in China, the international forefront brands have been expanding their markets into China’s second-tier cities like Chengdu. Fashion is going deeper and deeper into China and becoming part of life of more and more Chinese.

As the best-known fashion city in southwest China, Chengdu has owned 80 percent of international forefront brands, and is trying to attract more with relevant policies so as to help build itself into a regional international commercial center.
