The third investigation of Chinese women's social status is another national investigation of the status quo of Chinese women following the first investigation in 1990 and the second investigation in 2000.

Organized by the Chinese Women's Federation and the State Statistics Bureau, the current investigation, which will start in Shaanxi on Dec 1, will cover health, education, politics, economy, social insurance, marriage, family, lifestyle, legal rights and attitude towards gender.

The investigation will also try to understand the issues women care for most, which will serve as scientific data for decision-makers at different levels, said Liu Lige, chairwoman of Sichuan provincial Women's Federation.
