Editor's Note:
On March 20, 2003, the US and its allied forces began the invasion of Iraq, and eventually toppled Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. US forces withdrew from the country at the end of 2011. Today is the 10th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.
The US-led invasion of Iraq resulted in mass civilian casualties and huge economic losses, leaving the country in tatters.
Americans initially supported the war, but most polls show a majority of Americans now view the war as a mistake.
