US should contribute more to peace and stability in Asia

US Defense Minister Panetta said the US and the Republic of South Korea are continuing negotiations on the construction of an antimissile system. The US declared it would deploy the second missile warning radar in the south of Japan. It is reported that the US is also planning to deploy similar radars in Southeast Asia, says an article in People's Daily. Excerpts:

Are such moves for the safety of Asia? Some researchers say the US appears to target the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea but actually it is exhausting all possibilities to contain China. These radars can block DPRK as well as China. The US has not yet offered an explanation about this.

These moves easily trigger people’s memories of the US’ antimissile systems in Europe. The US said its deployment was focused on the threat of Iran, not Russia. In fact, past experience proves that Iran is only an excuse for the US to contain Russia.

The antimissile system is a tool for the US to extend its claws worldwide and secure its allies. The strategic rebalancing to Asia and the Pacific will certainly be implemented with this system. It is probable that the US will leave Asia in a divided and conflicted state, which is the most worrisome result for many Asian countries.

Asia is in a new period of development and needs peace and stability while solving problems and disputes. As the most important country in the Asia and Pacific region, the US should, and has the ability to, make more contributions to the regional peace and stability of Asia.

The US should clearly know that there is no absolute safety in the world. If it always destroys the peace and stability of the other regions, it will become very difficult for the US to ensure its own safety. Its antimissile system will threaten regional safety and stability if the system reaches too far beyond the needs of its own self-defense.
