A group of male university students in Wuhan, Hubei province who perform as a cosplay dance troupe are gaining a following on campus and they have even been offered 500 yuan ($79.3) each to perform in a commercial show. Though it looks like a good way for them to earn money, such cross-dressing is becoming increasingly worrying, says an article on youth.cn. Excerpts:

Society has grown more tolerant of diversity and those men with the potential to look like girls can make money by cross-dressing. But some people feel that such gender bending is not a healthy phenomenon. As there is a market for pseudo-girl shows, this group of transvestites, who call themselves Alice False Mother Group, has gained many fans. But its popularity is also because these male students have the urge to perform.

Some of these male students are psychologically and mentally masculine, but like other cosplayers they want to perform and have fun and earn some money for tuition fees. However, there are some who have suffered a lot mentally and physically during their teenage years and they may have trouble in their married lives. The popularity of the group and the commercial opportunities they have attracted will only have a negative effect on them.
