Who's afraid of China rising

China's rise upsets many a superpower and wannabes no end, but bringing a country to its heels by military force is no longer applicable in China's case. That is why the Beijing Olympic Games is being politicized by anti-China fanatics around the world and the sacred Olympic flame is being targeted by separatists seeking "Tibet independence" and their supporters, says a signed article in Hong Hong-based newspaper Ta Kung Pao. The following is an excerpt:

Outrageous as they are, such lowly acts have come as no surprise and more will be made against China for sure in the coming months. Looking on the bright side, China can figure out effective ways to thwart trouble makers through the test at hand, especially for members of the younger generation who have yet to see those Western powers' true design through their seductive facade.

To even suggest that all this will help force China to "improve its human rights situation by boycotting the Beijing Olympic Games" is absolutely ridiculous and an insult to athletes, who have every right to live their dreams in Beijing.
