Guidelines for action plan

(China Daily) Updated: 2017-08-01 07:42

In a recent speech at a meeting of provincial and ministerial-level officials, President Xi Jinping elaborated on how China should press ahead with its development.

Xi's in-depth analyses of the global situation, China's development and the state of the Communist Party of China serve as the guidelines for an action plan for the future. After nearly a century of struggle under the leadership of the CPC, Chinese people have never been so close to achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation or more confident that this dream will be realized. However, the nearer we get to our long-cherished dream, the more cool-headed we should be, in order to stay true to our original commitment and advance our development.

We should realize that China is in a new stage of socialism with Chinese characteristics and a series of historical changes to the nation and the Party since the 18th National Congress of the CPC means China is now at a new starting point. However, China's per capita GDP just exceeds $8,000 despite it being the world's second-largest economy, and its development is still uneven among regions as well as there being more than 43 million people still to be lifted out of poverty. Only by recognizing these conditions can the various problems that have emerged be solved and the right policies be implemented to advance the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics and promote the all-round development and progress of society.

As Xi said at the meeting, people's pursuit of a better life is what we have been struggling for. We should continuously strive to improve people's livelihoods, uphold social fairness and justice, and seek to ensure all citizens can share the gains accruing from the country's development so all feel a sense of well-being.

China under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi as the core can look forward to a brighter future.
