Taiwan’s Foxconn Technology Group has become the Zone’s largest new partner, with investments reaching 1 billion yuan. The two sides decided to build an “electronic commerce town” in the Zone and further enhance cooperation in electronics technology.
The other two newly-signed cooperation projects cover tourism, pioneering business incubators and finance fields.
The Yunnan-Taiwan Economic, Trade and Cultural Cooperation Symposium was first launched in 2012, with the aim of promoting communication between Yunnan province and Taiwan and enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, culture, technology and education. In 2014, the volume of trade between the two sides has reached $430 million. More than 600,000 Taiwan tourists also visited Yunnan last year.
