On Nov 21 Wenshan Zhuang and Miao autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, brought its featured local snacks to Kunming to give people a chance to try the flavor of nature.

"The banquet just bristles with the authenticity of the ethnic group. The tastes are great as they maintain the ingredients' original flavors," said Bai Jun, a senior media personality.

All ingredients by the prefecture are gathered in the wild, including its most characteristic snack —honeybee pupas. Before the panel of judges tried the food, the workers in Zhuang ethnic costumes sang a song and treated them with oil-tea.

The "one autonomous region, one banquet" activity was to publicize Yunnan food, enrich local tourism and catering markets and exploit the most distinctive local dishes.

It displayed four snacks of the Zhuang ethnic group: glutinous rice dumplings, buckwheat flaky pastry, glutinous rice cake and spiced slat pastry.
