Those picky taste buds always thirsting for some special but good beer now can be satisfied by Yunnan beers which just won an international beer prize.
European Beer Star 2016, a leading international beer competition, recently presented the silver medal to "Black Yak", a Yunnan beer brand, the first time a Chinese beer has been a winner in the competition.
European Beer Star was founded in 2004 and is called the "Oscars of beer". It invited 125 foreign experts to blind test the beers. The Black Yak won high remarks and made a breakthrough for the Chinese beer industry.

"Shangri-La has pure and unpolluted water and highland barley with abundant nutrition. It had all the advantages needed for beer production but surprisingly not its own beer brands," said Songtsen Gyalzur, CEO of Shangri-la Highand Crft Brewery.
He therefore founded a company in 2010 and started to brew beers with local resources.
He added that the next step is to exploit markets in first-tier Chinese cities and overseas countries.
