Kunming plaza recently launched a photography contest to run from Nov 11 to 30 with the first prize winner to bring home 5,000 yuan ($729) and other awards.
The competition is intended to showcase Kunming’s recent economic and social achievements.
"The plaza has held three photography competitions. The No.269 office in the plaza, a landmark of the northern part of Kunming's downtown, will offer competitors an overall view of Kunming landscapes," said Liu Qi, the assistant chairman of the Kunming plaza shopping center.
Tian Keyong, vice-chairman of the Kunming photographers' association, said that the contest will help promote Kunming's image.
The expert judge panel offered some photography tips to competitors—the best light usually occurs before sunrise and during sunset.
The contest winners can not only claim generous awards but also have their work printed in the Kunming Metropolitan Times and displayed in the Kunming plaza in December.
Competitors are restricted to five pictures per person.
