Weishan Yi autonomous county, Yunnan province, said at a news conference on Oct 26 that it is to hold a series of activities to mark its 60th anniversary on Nov 9.

Wang Liwei, head of the county, said that activities including a traveling culture promotion event, a photography display and sports activities will be held to showcase the county's development in economy, cultural and ecological construction.

"Visitors can experience the Weishan cultures while appreciating a huge-scale artistic performance and tasting hundreds of delicious Weishan snacks," said Wang.

Weishan county’s gross production value grew from eight million yuan ($1.2 million) in 1956 to 4.8 billion yuan in 2015, an increase of seven percent annually. The county is also one of the 12 poor Yunnan villages which successfully overcame poverty this year.
