Many embroidery masters worked fiercely on Aug 13 at the Yunnan Cultural Industry Expo.
Several embroidery competitions are being held at the expo's No 7 pavilion to decide the embroidery winners in individual, family and village categories.
The family embroidery contest's finalist competition awarded two first prizes, five second prizes and three third prizes among 30 participants.
Yu Zihan, an 11-year-old girl, was a first prize winner. Her work with neat stitches and appropriate colors depicted the beauty of a lotus pool. She said she had learned persistence through the competition.
A young man in a black suit was most noticeable among the many female embroiders in colorful costumes. He stitched his designs into a piece of cloth very skillfully as a result of 12 to 13 hours' practice every day.
The twenty best embroiders, including the young man, were crowned as “Folk embroidery masters in Yunnan” at the end of the competition.
Another embroidery contest awarded Yunnan's top-ten villages for their embroidery skills. It was held for the third successive year and has provided many influential Yunnan embroideries to the world.
