Guo Yanni is the director, producer and composer of the 90 minute performance. She got the inspiration from the Ancient Tea Route in Yunnan. “I composed the music because I am confident about our culture. I also feel that if our overseas friends want to learn about Chinese music, modern and international elements are necessary,” said Guo.
"We want the audience to experience the historical charm of the Ancient Tea Route via our performance,” said Qin Shaojian, vice-head of the Yaotai Tianlai Troupe, who will also perform at the show. Guo Yanni started learning the violin at the age of four and began composing in 1995. She has composed over 100 pieces of music and is a well-regarded performer in Germany, the US, Singapore and Indonesia.
Guo began focusing on promotion of Yunnan music in recent years by composing music in a Yunnan style and performing Yunnan ethnic music on violin.
