Chinese Academy of Science sent a delegation of Chinese and Pakistani experts from its China-Pakistan study group to Karamay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on July 3 to help with the city's preparatory work for the coming China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Forum.

The investigating group was debriefed by Chen Jianhui, vice-mayor of Karamay, about the latest state of the preparations. The delegation also visited the Karamay Exhibition Hall, Black Oil Mountain, Cloud Computing Industrial Park and the Karamay Central Hospital to have a comprehensive understanding of the city.

The Forum will be held in mid-August, with the aim of helping establish a China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and further enhancing Sino-Pakistani cooperation in the fields of culture, education, medicine, technology and economy.

The CPEC is a key part of the Belt and Road Initiative, under which China aims to support partner countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road in developing infrastructure and improve its connectivity with Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
