On Dec 5, a memorandum of understanding for establishing friendly port relations was signed by Tianjin Port and Port Kelang of Malaysia providing for mutual assistance and cooperation in port research, staff training and information exchange to improve both sides' transport and service levels.

As the cradle of China's mainland container transport, Tianjin Port has the edge in the construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. More than 120 liner routes from the port are conducting weekly operations involving 18,000 to 20,000 standard container shipments. All of the top three shipping alliances in the world have opened their largest liner routes in Tianjin, making it a "golden joint" of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

From January to November, Tianjin Port opened seven new routes and accomplished a throughput of 1,395 standard containers, a steady growth of 4.5 percent over the same period last year.

Tianjin Port has established friendly relations or signed memorandums of understanding with ports such as Dubai port in the United Arab Emirates, Antwerp port in Belgium, Hamburg port in Germany, and Marseille port in France.

Tianjin has transported 986,000 standard ro-ro cars in the last 11 months -- a 31.7 percent year-on-year growth; 137,000 of them were foreign trade exports, an increase in that sector of 144.9 percent over the same period last year.
