It is also a heaven-sent habitat of various plants and animals, with 20 thousands of vegetation covering 80 percent of the mountain. With its significance in culture and nature, Mount Tai was officially added into of the list of UNESCO cultural and natural heritage in 1987, as the first group of nominations in China approved by UNESCO.
