Covering an area of 982 square meters, the museum was established in 2001 at the Dawenkou cultural site in Tai'an. Divided into seven exhibition halls, it displays unearthed relics of the Dawenkou Culture (4100-2600 BC), which illustrate the evolution of the early Chinese civilization in Shandong province.
