The Shanxi Civil-Military Integration Promotion Conference was held in Taiyuan on Sept 27 with representatives of research institutes, universities, the military and tech companies discussing civil-military integration.

With a theme of openness, integration, innovation and development, the conference was aimed at gathering resources and furthering civil-military integration in the province.

As one of China’s main arms-producing regions, Shanxi has a strong defense science and technology industry base, with a complete industrial chain from research to production, according to Lou Yangsheng, governor of Shanxi province.

In recent years, the province has planned a series of projects in advanced equipment manufacturing, big data, new energy, new materials, and network safety sectors. In addition, it has encouraged military research institutes and companies to further reform and innovation, while offering financial support to promote the intensive development of civil-military integration industrial clusters, he added.

Shanxi provincial government signed a partnership agreement with China Electronics Technology Group at the conference.

The conference also saw 15 projects involving advanced equipment manufacturing, new energy vehicles, rail transit, civil aviation, and equity collaboration –– all agreed by Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone, State-owned military companies managed by the central government, universities and local companies.

A series of road shows, promotions, and exhibition events, such as a weapons procurement forum and a fair to promote local tech achievements, were organized following the conference.
