To attract more young people from Taiwan to seek jobs and start their own businesses in Shanxi, a provincial entrepreneurship and employment base for cross-Straits youth was established in Jinzhong on Aug 4.
The base, the first of its kind in the province, is in the core area of the Taiyuan-Yuci district Economic Belt and to the east of a cluster of colleges which house some 100,000 teachers and students.
With regional advantages, the base is expected to facilitate cross-Straits communication and encourage more young people from Taiwan to pursue their careers in Shanxi.
"Our association will promote Shanxi to more Taiwan residents and attract them to come and work here and start businesses in the province," said Zeng Xinhui, director of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises in Taiyuan.
Next to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic belt, Shanxi has been developing a provincial demonstration area for economic transformation and reform and enacting supporting policies, creating opportunities and a sound environment for investment. Currently, there are some 300 Taiwan-based companies operating in Shanxi.
