Gen Shijie sorts vegetables to be delivered to customers in a community of Yangquan, March 7. Gen previously worked at Nanling Coal, a subsidiary of Shanxi Yangquan Coal Industry Co, and applied to the company for the right to set up his own business in 2015. He decided to run a vegetable store following market research with his friends and directly distribute fresh vegetables to customers' homes. Gen claims that he feels confident about his store and that people should try new ideas when they choose to start their own businesses. [Photo/Xinhua]

Li Baolin checks equipment in a flour processing factory, Taiyuan, March 8. Li was once responsible for the transportation sector at Baijiazhuang Colliery in Taiyuan. The colliery was closed in October 2016 due to overcapacity in the coal industry. Li then went to work in a local flour processing factory with his fellow workers in the colliery. He intends to find new employment eventually and sees his current job as a stopgap measure. [Photo/Xinhua]
