Residents enjoy skiing on Dec 18 at the Jiurun International Ski Resort in Taiyuan, Shanxi province. The skiing resort, located in Duerping mining area, was constructed by the government of Wangbailin district to help miners faced with redundancy find new jobs, as local coal companies have been laying off employees to tackle overcapacity. The skiing project is part of a comprehensive scenic zone which is to be built with support from private capital.
