Shanxi seeks product-promotion through e-commerce

A matchmaking conference for e-commerce businesses in Shanxi and Zhejiang provinces took place in Hangzhou on Nov 19 to further cooperation between the two sides and promote Shanxi products.

Some 20 Internet firms in Zhejiang and 15 from Shanxi attended the conference, sharing experience in trade and seeking cooperation opportunities. Shanxi Lecuntao Internet Technology and Liangyitianxia E-Business Co, two rural e-commerce platforms in Shanxi, introduced their operations and the integration of products from rural areas.

The event aims to improve the market share of Shanxi specialties and promote Shanxi brands through various popular e-commerce platforms. As a province where e-commerce is booming, Zhejiang is of great value to Shanxi in growing this sector further.

"The matchmaking conference will advance the application of the Internet in traditional trade among Shanxi companies and further the combination of agriculture and commerce, boosting e-commerce in rural areas," said Sun Yuejin, director of the Shanxi Department of Commerce.

Shanxi has been taking advantage of e-commerce platforms to expand the market for its specialties in recent years. At the Hangzhou stop of "Shanxi Brands China Tour", a promotion fair for Shanxi products, local exhibitors displayed and sold almost 90 kinds of specialties through three famous online marketplaces, Alibaba, JD.com and Suning.com.
