Mahavairocana, or Vairocana Buddha, is often interpreted as the Dharmakaya of the Gautama Buddha. Dharmakaya is the embodiment of truth itself, and it is commonly seen as transcending the forms of physical and spiritual bodies. Mahavairocana, who dwells in a place called "Always Tranquil Light", is the Primordial Buddha in the Chinese schools of Tiantai and Hua-Yen Buddhism.

Known as one of China's four famous Buddhist mountains, Mount Wutai is a holy land for Buddhists. It boasts the biggest temple complex in East Asia, which is home to 47 well-preserved temples.
