Chenshan Autumn Flower Show uses new media for promotion

Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden is preparing for the 2012 Chenshan Autumn Flower Show by utilizing new methods to popularize scientific knowledge. The show's new methods make use of new media and are geared towards the needs of teenage visitors.

During the autumn show in Chenshan Botanical Garden, the tour route will include Internet interactions and multilevel popular science activities.

Chenshan will organize professional staff and volunteers to provide free services such as guided tours, popular science lectures and interactive activities throughout the tour route, beginning with Dongjing station on subway Line 9.

The activities are predicted to contain famous flower shows, including a sunflower show and giant water lily show, and educational popularization activities, such as North American Plants Week and a Small Children's Zoo.

Moreover, Chenshan will make full use of new media, including social network sites, QR codes, smart phones and location-based service technology. It will interact with the public on famous websites such as Weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter), Douban (a social network) and iCardYou (a social postcard website). Tourists can enjoy interactive internet games and learn more about science through the activities.
