Shanghai's financial hub Lujiazui has launched its second annual singing contest to entertain its thousands of white-collar workers.

Based on the hugely popular Voice of China TV show, registration for Voice of Lujiazui is open until Aug 22. Anyone who works as a white-collar worker in Lujiazui and has a passion for singing can enter the contest.

Interested participants have two application options. They can either submit their accompanying documents and perform onsite or register online and attach a recorded (minimum two minutes) auditioning video to this email address: ljzhsy2017@163.com.

Survivors of the first round of mass auditions will contest the semifinals, to be held at the Pudong New Stage on Aug 23 and 24. The final showdown will be held at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on Sept 22.

To ensure a fair and open competition, professional judges including singers from the Shanghai Light Music Orchestra, teachers at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and famous musicians in Shanghai will be invited.

The event forms part of Lujiazui's efforts to provide its white-collar workers with a rich cultural life. Local authorities have been organizing various cultural activities such as symphony orchestra concerts, drama performances, art exhibitions, lectures and art movie shows to contribute to the cultural life in the area and to promote its cultural brand.
