Malu Grape Festival opens on July 7

The three-month 13th Shanghai Malu Grape Festival opened its doors on July 7. This year's event includes three activities: "A Micro Movie Tour of Jiading New City", "Jiading New City's Exploration Tour" and the "Pastoral Leisure and Healthy Tour".

The event is themed "Taste Malu Grapes and Travel in Jiading New City". The festival will prepare a series of interesting outside activities to show the regions brand image, cultural traits and pastoral style. There are also many sports, art and health themed activities in branch festival sites.

This year's grape festival will continue its brand of "humanism, agriculture, and leisure travel". In order to promote festival activities, the festival will expand its popularity and participation through micro blogs and movies with help from the Shanghai Malu grape professional cooperative, the township's Party committee and the township government.

Additionally, a Malu grape network was founded to utilize an e-commerce platform to help grape farmers change production models, improve product quality and increase their income.

Jiading will also provide three travel routes. The first route focuses on a Malu grape pastoral tour consisting of a Malu grape art village, Zhouqiao Old Street, and Huilongtan Pond in the district. Tourists can taste various kinds of grapes and enjoy the grape-picking activity.

The second route is based on lotuses, and includes a lotus show in Guyi Garden and an activity to appreciate lotuses in Jiading New City and Chenjiashan. The first Shanghai Lotus Festival launched on June 20 and will last until Aug 20 in Guyi Garden, featuring nearly 350 kinds of special and precious lotuses and 6,000 lotuses for tourists.

The third route is the parent-child science tour for summer vacation. Attractions include Jiading Confucius Temple, the Shanghai Museum of the Chinese Imperial Examination System, and Lu Yanshao Art Academy.
