Intercity railway to finish construction in October

The Qingdao – Rongcheng intercity railway in Shandong province has entered its final stage of construction, and is expected to open to the public in October, Qingdao Daily reported.
With an investment of 37 billion yuan ($5.5 billion), the railway is some 300 kilometers in length, which will be traversed by trains at an average speed of 250 kilometers per hour, hitting a peak of 300 kph.
It is the first-intercity railway across the Shandong Peninsula, connecting numbers of cities in the province including Qingdao, Yantai, Jimo, Weihai and Rongcheng. Rongcheng city, the final stop of the railway, locates in the very east of the Shandong Peninsula bordering the Yellow Sea.
Passengers will be able to get to Yantai city within 1.5 hours from Qingdao, the first stop of the railway.
