The sixth Qingdao Beer Festival will open on July 24 in Yantai, Shandong province.

Running until Aug 9, the festival will be held at the square of Yantai International Expo Center, with an area of 3,000 square meters. The event is expected to attract 50,000 participants.

This year's festival will feature beer drinking contests, songs, dances and delicacies. The top winner will be able to attend the beer drinking championship at Qingdao International Beer Festival, which will take place in Qingdao in August.

For six years in a row, the festival has become a top choice for Yantai residents to escape from summer heat.
