Close to the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, Yantai has 63 islands, with a coastline of 909 kilometers. Annual average surface water temperature in coastal areas is between 11 and 14 C. Annual average surface salinity is between 28 and 31 percent.
Zhifu Island
Located near the Yellow Sea and 5 kilometers north of downtown Yantai, Zhifu Island is a typical land-tied island. It is a natural breakwater of Yantai Port.
Kongtong Island
Located 9.5 kilometers northeast of Zhifu district in Shandong, Kongtong Island is surrounded by reefs and beaches and boasts abundant marine products. The island is blessed with enchanting landscapes and lush forests. Strange reefs and odd rocks can be found everywhere, and green hills and clear water fit in well with each other.
Changdao county
Situated in the intersection of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, Changdao county faces Yantai in the south, Dalian in the north, Beijing and Tianjin in the west, and South Korea and Japan across the sea in the east. Under the jurisdiction of Yantai, Changdao county got its name from Changshan Island within its territory. Changdao county, covering a sea area of 8,700 square kilometers, consists of 66 uncovered reefs and 32 islands, including 10 inhabited islands.
Yangma Island
Located 30 kilometers east of Yantai and 9 kilometers north of Muping district, Yangma Island, namely the Yangma Island Tourist Resort, covers an area of 10 square kilometers.
With beautiful landscape and mild climate, the island is an ideal resort for visitors. It now has been named a provincial tourist attraction.
