The government of Tai’an in Shandong province is preparing a 3-year action plan on air pollution control and emergency response for heavily polluted days, Tai’an Daily reported on Thursday.
The mayor of Tai’an city, Wang Yunpeng, called for increased monitoring of air pollution and measures to manage pollutants - and he also urged residents to join in the efforts.
He said that the information disclosure system should be improved and that an emergency response mechanism should also be implemented during heavily polluted days, including production suspension, restrictions related to vehicles, school closures and practical meteorological intervention.
Wang said that “all units, agencies and individuals should take part in fighting against air pollution”, as the issue of air pollution prevention and control is “one of the most important livelihood issues and also a significant factor for economic transformation and upgrading.” |
