Dongying targeted by investors

Dongying has been targeted by domestic and overseas investors who are keen to capitalize on the city’s advantageous position in the Yellow River Delta, said Xian Jingliang, deputy director of Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone (ETDZ).

The development strategy for making the Yellow River Delta a high-efficient economic zone has been listed as a part of China’s national strategy.

Last year saw 30 large-scale projects involving a total investment of over 12 billion yuan under construction.

The trend continues this year with another 17 projects costing 10.5 billion yuan under construction.

These projects mainly focus on automobile manufacture, automobile parts manufacturing, new materials, energy, electronics and machinery.

Dongying foreign trade totaled $1.1 billion last year, a year-on-year increase of 1.8 percent, while its gross industrial output value stood at 45.1 billion yuan.

To date, a total of 529 manufacturing and processing projects have been introduced to Dongying ETDZ, presenting a total investment of 51.7 billion yuan. Of these projects, 165 ones have been put on stream.

According to Xian, the following years will see Dongying give priority on developing six industrial clusters. They are new energy, electronic information, automobiles and parts, petroleum equipment, new material and intensive processing of metals.

The new energy industry brought sales revenue of 2.8 billion yuan to Dongying last year. A number of key enterprises engaged in wind power sector have been cultivated.

The value generated from the wind power sector in Dongying is projected to reach 15 billion yuan by the end of this yea,r while the value of the wind power equipment manufacturing industry in the city is projected to be 30 billion yuan by 2020.

The solar industry in Dongying ETDZ registered sales revenue of five billion yuan. Two facilities for harnessing solar energy to generate power are scheduled to be built in the Dongying ETDZ.
