Shandong has launched a new land use plan which ensures arable land will be kept at 7.48 million hectares and land used for building projects will be less than 2 million hectares by 2020.

Authorities will be strict in approving land use to prevent irregularities and maintain effective control and management to guarantee the arable land protection target.

Shangtung Peninsula is also required to control the expansion of cities and increase greening land to optimize city space.
