Qingdao seniors to get new rest home

A rest home for the elderly which can house 10 thousand people will be built in the Chengyang district of Qingdao, Shandong province.

According to the manager of Hiking Group, one of the hosts of the project, total investment of the project is 13 billion yuan. The land utilization of the project is 33 hectares, with a construction area of 400,000 sq m; 33 hectares of mountain and forest land have been rented.

After completion, the project will become an industrial community, offering employment for more than 3,000 people, with a combined income of 5 billion yuan each year.

The Chengyang rest home project will be used as a demonstration project for future elderly care projects. Construction will start in March 2010 and be put into service by the end of 2011.
