Lijiang, Southwest China's Yunnan province, will focus on the development of unique industries and accelerate economic development in 2019, according to the government work report of Zheng Yi, mayor of Lijiang, at the second session of the fourth Lijiang Municipal People's Congress on Feb 18.

In 2018, Lijiang actively promoted the development of the tourism industry and received 46.43 million tourists, an increase of 14.1 percent. Total tourism revenue amounted to 99.85 billion yuan ($14.78 billion), an increase of 21.5 percent.
In 2019, Lijiang will try to build itself into a world-class tourism destination and carry out a "tourism revolution" in market rectification, quality improvement, product supply, management strength, and service quality.
Focusing on industries related to clean energy, high-altitude agriculture, and biomedicine, the city plans to strengthen and develop leading enterprises and build a modern economic system.

It will introduce clean energy industry projects and work towards developing hydropower aluminum, high-purity polysilicon, silicon carbide, and other projects in order to achieve a growth of more than 15 percent in investment in non-electric industries.
It will also strengthen reform of the power system, promote power market transactions, and strive to produce 7.1 billion yuan in power output, an increase of 9.2 percent.
The city will also promote the development of the plateau-specific agricultural industry, which includes Yongsheng soft-seed pomegranates and Huaping mangos.

In addition, it will also strengthen cooperation with Tianjin Pharmaceuticals Group, Kangmei Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, and Yunnan Baiyao Group to work toward building an international health city.
