Lijiang pursues ethnic cultural inheritance and development

"Culture is a major feature, as well as an advantage, of Yulong Naxi autonomous county," Cui Maohu, chief of the Lijiang municipal committee of the CPC said recently.

Cui noted that the country should focus on eight areas in the future, including cultural heritance, environmental protection, poverty relief, and management of tourism attractions.

In 2017, Yulong county constructed 95 comprehensive cultural service centers and created a number of excellent cultural works, such as the movie Hometown on the Cloud, highlighting its outstanding ethnic culture.

"We should find the good things of our Naxi culture," said Cui Maohu, adding that "good ideas should continue to the next generation and we also should treat tourists and new citizens with a good attitude."

Last year Yulong county promoted its construction of a National Cultural Consumption Pilot County and successfully organized a series of ethnic cultural activities, such as the Sanduo Festival and the First Ethnic Costume Show.

Eight folklore inheritances, including Naxi people's traditions of offering sacrifice to God, were included in the fourth batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage projects of Yunnan province.

Cui Maohu said that Yulong will focus on education and the enhancement of civilized qualities and strengthen protection and management of historical and cultural relics, such as Baisha Mural, Sanduo Pavilion and Locke's former residence.
