A collection of enhanced tourism experience projects have sprung up in Lijiang, the hottest tourist destination in Yunnan province, Yunnan Daily reported on Oct 13.

The Naxi Culture Experience Museum Lijiang's Old Town is a perfect example of city's efforts to upgrade the region's tourism prospects. The museum has blended Naxi culture and virtual reality (VR) technologies to demonstrate the Naxi people's reverence for the power of nature.

"The museum consists of five parts, including a Dongba pictograph wall, Naxi epics, a digital display wall of Naxi ethnic customs, a VR story experience center and original Naxi artworks," said He Jinfeng, a museum guide. "The Naxi's unique culture and the museum's rich experience items have gained great popularity among tourist."

Air tours are another new choice for tourists visiting the city. According to Liu Guoyong, deputy general manager of Yunnan Global General Aviation Co Ltd's Lijiang branch, increased tourism consumption has become commonplace and people are willing to spend more money and time on unique and colorful experiences.

"Helicopter tours have increased to 20 per day from only three when our company first opened in Lijiang in 2015." Liu said.
