The forestry bureau of Lijiang in Yunnan province organized an educational event to advocate the protection of the local snub-nosed monkey population on May 16.
Yulong county, the location of the Yunnan Baima Snow Mountain National Nature Reserve, is home to approximately 1,000 snub-nosed monkeys. The species is locally known as the Yunnan golden-haired monkey and is only found in the Chinese provinces of Yunnan, Sichuan, Tibet and Guizhou, in addition to northern parts of Vietnam and Myanmar.
