Over 200 people across China, the oldest 59 years old and the youngest only 11, hiked in Lijiang from Oct 20 to 24 along the Lijiang section of the Tea Horse Road.

The 108 kilometer journey started at Wenbi sea and ended at Tiger Leaping Gorge.

On the day the group started their trip, Wang Shihong, deputy director of the tourism development committee of Lijiang, extended a warm welcome to the participants.

All participants said that they felt Lijiang is a great place to go hiking and it was their great honor to take part in the activity.

The track meanders through highways, mountains and valleys which posed great challenges for the participants.

Ni Wenbin, Lijiang's Dershare executive president, said that the activity aims to give people a chance to experience the hardship of ancient mabang, a troop of people driving horses from Yunnan to Tibet and India to exchange goods.

"Everybody will encounter difficulties in his life and only those who stick to their goals win," he said.
