A surge of visitors descended on the picturesque town of Lijiang in Yunnan province over the National Day holiday (Oct 1 to 7), eager to experience the lifestyle of the quaint historic town nestled between the mountains.
Some 675,000 people visited the town during the holiday, an increase of 26.16 percent on the same period last year.
To top off the rise in visitor numbers the National Tourism Administration declared that Lijiang had been included on a list of the top 10 tourist destinations in China for National Day.
The romance of the town was at its best during the week-long break, as the blue skies witnessed the slow fade of summer into more auburn autmnul hues.
