The research panel of the Yunnan Committee of the CPPCC visited Lijiang, Yunnan Province to review the significant and ongoing project of "using Yunnan's location advantage to build a southern silk road cultural tourism circle" on June 1-2.
Zhao Lidi, Lijiang's deputy mayor and a member of its standing committee, described Yunnan's tourism development strategies and current problems as well as the process of its application for designation as a "pilot area of international tourism reform".
Zeng Hua, vice chairman of the Yunnan Committee of the CPPCC, noted that the southern silk road circle, a new concept of historic and practical significance, aims to stimulate construction of "The Belt and Road" strategy and upgrade Yunnan to the international level. Lijiang, as an important component of the circle and the national cultural industry, should contribute to the goal.
Zeng said Lijiang should fuse culture with tourism to the best of its ability based on the government's strategy to upgrade the tourism industry. It should also allocate its resources optimally and grasp every chance to pioneer tourism operational brands, especially mid-and-high-end ones, to meet the increasingly diverse demands of the tourism industry and improve visitor experience.
