The cities of Pu'er and Lijiang, two popular tourist sites in Yunnan province, are talking about ways to work with each other on tourism resources and improving the industry, according to an announcement by local authorities at a recently concluded tourism promotion conference, in the city of Lijiang.

One Lijiang tourism development official explained that Pu'er sits at the center of the greater Mekong region and that it and Lijiang are significant sites on the Silk Road, so there is considerable scope for cooperation between the two and for sharing resources.

Another authority on the area, Xu Yunyan, of the Lijiang Sunshine Holiday Travel Agency, said that Pu'er is quite attractive to Lijiang people, who are fond of its tea, ethnic art performances, and food and that the agency is working on new travelling packages for Lijiang visitors.
