Free Wi-Fi service available in Lijiang ancient town

A news conference opened in Lijiang on Dec 12, announcing that free Wi-Fi service has started in Lijiang ancient town and the Dxoo e-commerce platform has officially gone online, Xinhua.net reported. Lijiang ancient town will be the first 5A level scenic spot in China providing free Wi-Fi service in China.

By then, tourists can connect to the free Wi-Fi in Lijiang ancient town and also use the Dxoo e-commerce platform to get more tourism information of Lijiang. “We will effectively integrate the resources, strengthen the government service efficiency and provide tourists with quality services,” said He Shiyong, director of the world cultural heritage Lijiang ancient town protection administration. The start of the free Wi-Fi service marks Lijiang’s big step in promoting its tourism informatization.

At present, the first-stage project of the Lijiang free Wi-Fi has covered one-third of areas of the ancient town, including Yuhe Square, Sifang Street and the bar street. During the first-stage project, altogether 300 Wi-Fi hotspots will be provided. According to the plan, the second-stage project will be finished in the first half of 2015. By then, free Wi-Fi service will cover all areas in Lijiang ancient town, and more than 1,000 hotspots will be available.
